Despite Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell saying just a day ago that chances of a table game bill being passed were “nil,” a recent report on ThePittsburghChannel.com says that legislative leaders apparently have resolved
a key disagreement holding up table games, and said there appeared to be resolve to pass the legislation when the legislature returns to session January 5.
Gov. Rendell had given the lawmakers a January 8 deadline before cutting up to a thousand state employees and closing public parks and museums. A petty political battle between Senate Republican leaders and House Democratic leaders has created a stalemate, but Dante Santoni, the Democrat who chairs the House Gaming Oversight Committee, was quoted by the news service as saying, “We have to get this bill passed by the time we get back into session so employees don’t get laid off.”
