One of Canada's most popular horses in recent years, millionaire pacer Nickle Bag is set to return to the racetrack after a four-month layoff.

Trainer Julie Robinson told Trot Insider that Nickle Bag is expected to return to action next week after recovering from an injury.

"He sustained a minor injury in August so we gave him time off and have been very cautious training him back with the help of the diagnostics at Melissa McKee Pownell clinic," said Robinson.

"Nickle Bag, or 'Dirt' as everyone knows him as, is going to qualify on the 31st at Mohawk. Looking forward to it!"

A career winner of 54 races and more than $1.25 million in purses, the 11-year-old Rocknroll Hanover gelding has been a staple on the Woodbine circuit for years making regular appearances in the Preferred and upper-level condition ranks. The fan favourite is owned by Linda Loyens of Denfield, Ont.
