After having served punters for more than 60 years, the grandstand at the now-defunct Lebanon Raceway in Ohio is now scheduled to be torn down.
According to an article by the Journal-News, officials with the Warren County Agricultural Society have voted in favour of demolishing the grandstand this coming March. It is expected that county commissioners will approve the funding of the demolition via resolution on December 27.
“There’s a lot of history that goes along with that structure,” Warren County Agricultural Society President Gene Steiner was quoted as saying.
The grandstand housed patrons during live racing, but later served as a simulcast centre. According to the Journal-News, the grandstand has fallen into ‘desrepair’ since the business left for Miami Valley three years ago.
