Twenty-three-year-old horseman Brodie MacPhee notched his first-ever win in Ontario Monday night at Flamboro Downs, as he lit up the tote board with three-year-old Western Maverick filly Hello Honey.
After leaving from Post 4, MacPhee steered his filly into the two-hole and sat there until the stretch. Asking his mount late, MacPhee engineered an 18-1 upset when he and the filly got up for a one-length victory in 2:03.4 for trainer Harry Poulton.
Hello Honey returned $39.10 on a Win ticket and topped an attractive $2,055.60 triactor.
MacPhee comes from a long line of horsemen, including his father, Brian, and his grandfather, Alex. He has been a past participant in all the Maritimes young drivers' series and has been a consistent driver on the PEI driving circuit.
