Winning races is something that Billy “Zeke” Parker Jr. has been doing since the mid 70s, and on Thursday at Monticello Raceway the native of Maine pushed his lifetime win total to 9,500.
Parker, who has won driving titles at Scarborough Downs, Lewiston Raceway, Scarborough Downs and Yonkers Raceway in addition to titles at Monticello Raceway, entered the card needing a pair of wins to hit the target.
P H Sixtyfive (2:04) lifted Parker’s lifetime total to 9,499 and Redeemable (2:04.2) made it career win number 9,500 for the resident of Monticello, NY.
Parker, who has driven winners in excess of $25 million to date, put together a personal best 525-win season in 1995, but it was four years later in 1999 when he established his highest single season purse haul of $2,232,305.
One of the reinsman’s most notable days of racing, however, dates back to October 20, 1996. Parker picked up nine wins and a second-place finish from 10 starts at Monticello Raceway that day. His .956 UDR for the day is the best in harness racing history among those drivers who have won at least nine races on a single card.
It's been two days on this
It's been two days on this site that the headlines read Parker Reaches 9,500 Wins. Not one person commented??? Is there even one driver on the OJC with as many or more wins? I for one only have 1,300 or 1,400 wins and would only dream about 5,000. I don't understand why Walter Case Jr gets back in the bike after nearly successfully killing his wife gets rave reviews and congratulations from Canada and beyond?? In Jerry Maguire's words its a cyncial world we live in!! Let me be the first to congratulate you ZEKE on your Nine Thousand-Five Hundredth career win!
