After going home empty handed in last week’s $10,000 Fillies & Mares Open, Mrs Suhwiggins took advantage of a two-hole trip en route to posting a 1:53.4 triumph in Thursday’s main event for distaffers at Fraser Downs.

Mrs Suhwiggins got away in the pocket spot for driver David Kelly while Glimpseofgoodness blasted to the lead and threw down fractions of :27.3, :57.3 and 1:25.1. Mrs Suhwiggins got a clear shot at the leader in the lane, and her :28.2 closing panel was enough to hold off heavily-favoured Hottieonthehorizon in the closing strides. That foe was second best, with the show dough being doled out to Glimpseofgoodness.

Jim Marino trains the five-year-old daughter of Custard The Dragon-Michelles Fury for J J J Stables of Prince George, BC. It was the 24th lifetime win for the pacer who has manufactured a 7-3-5 record from 24 trips to the track this year. She’s banked close to $320,000 to date.

Tiempo Hanover was a down the road winner in his $10,000 assignment later on the card.

Trainer/driver Brandon Campbell took no prisoners with the gelding who hustled the field through fractions of :26, :55.1 and 1:23.3 before scooting home in :28.3 to win by a half-length margin over Armycaptin Hanover in 1:52.1. I Ama Rocket tagged along to finish third.

Sent off as the even-money choice, the seven-year-old son of Western Ideal-Tempest Blue Chip scored the win for owners Jodi Loftus, Dana Shore and Raymond Henry. The win was his seventh of the season and the 24th time in his career. With $318,138 on his resume, the seven-year-old improved this year’s record to 6-6-3 from 20 starts with the win.
