There was a trend in the casino and racetrack industry in the past few years to decrease the ability for patrons to smoke within facilities. Smokers were ostracized and turned unhappy. It appears that smokers are now getting some power back.
According to an article on onlinecasinosphere.com, under Pennsylvania law Philadelphia Park Casino will be allowed to double its smoking area space, to cover 50 per cent of the casino floor. The report states that statistics from the thoroughbred racetrack and casino showed that 250 percent more revenue came from the quarter of the racino which allowed smoking than from the three-quarters that did not.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board said it had received similar requests from the state's other six casinos.
