After turning in a gate-to-wire score as the betting favourite at Western Fair Raceway one week ago, Twin B Excalibur returned to the half-mile oval and pulled off a 10-1 upset against some of that track’s top trotters

in the co-featured $13,500 Preferred.

The six-year-old son of Earl took an off-the-approach this time around for Mike Horner, who rallied Twin B Excalibur to a 2:03.1 triumph for trainer Randy Fulmer, who co-owns the gelding with Phillip Katcher of Dewitt, MI. Son Of Paige, who did the first over work in the mile, was next best and Long Ago took home the show dough.

The victory gives the trotter an 8-5-5 record in 34 trips postward this season in and a seasonal bankroll of close to $68,000. The 29-time winner boasts $207,796 in lifetime earnings.

Earlier on the card Bigmizndrstnding chased down the leaders en route to posting a half-length victory in the $13,500 Preferred for the pacers. The four-year-old son of No Pan Intended, who is trained by Jim Ainsworth, used a :30.3 final quarter of a tiring track to nail down the win for driver Mike Sumner. Yulovepebblebeach was a determined runner-up and Part Shark raced huge to finish third.

Larry Ainsworth of Petrolia, ON and Bill Boden of Vancouver, BC share ownership on the gelding, who was making his first start since September. It was just the second tally of the 2009 campaign in 23 trips behind the starting gate for the career winner of $210,056.

After back-to-back off-the-board finishes Headpoles R Us rebounded with an impressive front-stepping win in the $11,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace. Brad Forward quarter-pole moved the five-year-old Bo Knows Jate miss to the lead and didn’t look back from that point on. She was a little more than a length better than Desir in 1:58.4. Age Of Consent rounded out the top three.

Sent off as the 6-5 favourite, Headpoles R Us picked up her 16th win of the season for trainer Chris Haskell and owner Ronald Haskell of Windsor, ON. The 24-time winner has stashed away over $94,000 this year and more than $152,000 to date.
