Democrats in the Pennsylvania house have pulled the plug on the planned debate over legislation to authorize table games at Keystone State casinos
.
Several key democrats were absent from the legislature yesterday, leaving party leaders “unable to round up the 102 votes needed to pass the bill,” according to a story on the website of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
The bill, Senate Bill 711, was passed by the state Senate on July 7. A number of 'pork barrel' amendments have been added to the original legislation, and leaders say House members must filter through the amendments before they bring the bill to a vote.
