Entering the final month of the year, Legal Suspensory made it into the win column for 2013 with a narrow score in the featured $10,500 Fillies & Mares Open Pace at Fraser Downs on Sunday.
Making just her eighth start of the season, Legal Suspensory and driver Jim Marino sat third along the pylons for most of the mile before out-sprinting a from-last Mach Maiden Heaven (David McKellar) and the pacesetter Call Me Up (Bill Davis) for the neck victory in 1:56.4 over the 'good' track rated two seconds off.
Sent postward as the 2-1 second choice, Legal Suspensory paid $6.30 to win. Favourite Call Me Up finished three-quarters of a length behind in third after leading through fractions of :28.1, :57.3 and 1:26.
The seven-year-old Pulledsuspensory mare, who was a runner-up in last year's Miss Cloverdale, is currently trained by Walter Slopianka and owned by Shale Stables of Merritt, B.C. She has compiled a lifetime record reading 14-10-10 in 62 outings with earnings of $187,154.
Seven of the first eight winners on Sunday's card were also first-time winners this year.
