Donato Hanover’s Sis Tops Day One

The opening session of the 2010 Harrisburg Yearling Sale is officially in the books, with a total of 248 horses going under the hammers of the various auctioneers. A total of $12,935,000 was spent by owners looking for the

next superstar, and that translated into a first-day average of $52,157.

Topping the first session of the auction was Hip #252 Dream On Hanover – an Andover Hall filly out of the great producing mare D Train. Staffan Lind of Middletown, NY signed the sale slip on the $260,000 youngster who was part of the Hanover Shoe Farms Inc. consignment.

The filly is a full sister to Hambletonian winner Donato Hanover (1:50.1 - $2,352,190) and a half-sister to Here Comes Herbie (1:52 - $379,616).

In 2009, a total of 272 yearlings stepped into the sales ring on opening day grossing $13,989,500 with an average of $51,432.

The auction runs through Saturday, November 13 at Harrisburg's Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex Sales Arena. Over 2,200 horses ranging from yearlings and weanlings to racehorses and broodmares, stallions and stallion shares will hit the auction block.
