Trot Insider has learned that the world's fastest Standardbred, Bulldog Hanover, has an adjustment to his previously announced race schedule.
According to trainer and co-owner Jack Darling, Bulldog Hanover will be skipping the 2022 Potomac Pace at Rosecroft.
"With all the shipping around and stuff, I just don't want the horse to get hurt," said Darling on Wednesday (Nov. 2), indicating that he wasn't able to secure the preferred transportation plan for his stable star. "We're dealing with syndication now and with shipping here and shipping there, I just didn't want to take the chance on it."
Bulldog Hanover exits a stakes-record performance in taking the $810,000 Breeders Crown Open Pace on Oct. 29, in which he paced his seventh sub-1:47 mile on the year when winning in 1:46.4. With his victory in the $500,000 William Haughton Memorial on July 16, Bulldog Hanover became the fastest Standardbred on the planet when registering a mile in 1:45.4 to eclipse the record set by Always B Miki and matched by Lather Up.
In his career, Bulldog Hanover has 27 wins from 36 starts and $2,621,946 earned. Black-type victories to Bulldog Hanover's resume include wins in the Graduate Series, the Roll With Joe, the $500,000 William Haughton Memorial, the $315,000 Dan Patch Invitational, the $650,000 Canadian Pacing Derby, the $200,000 Harrah's Hoosier Park Pacing Derby and the $250,000 Dayton Pacing Derby.
Darling indicated that Bulldog Hanover came out of the Breeders Crown "perfect" and he will now look for a tightener for Bulldog Hanover between press time and his final start, the TVG Final on November 26 at The Meadowlands.

Unknown future
2012 the unknown future of racing in Ontario. Mr. Jack Darling I thank you very much for all you do for racing and the principles you stand behind, and for not hanging up the lines in 2012. For this colt to be born is a miracle within itself, the uncertainty of 2012 may have never allowed this miracle. He's lifted the love of the sport, not only in Canada, but the US as well. The US has had their own struggles with racing.
I'll have another

As well as a bright future for my friends in the US.
