Brandon Campbell surpassed $20 million in career driving earnings at a frigid Century Mile on Friday, Nov. 28, scoring two wins and two seconds before a fifth-place finish pushed him over the line.
Campbell started the night hot, winning with two of his first three drives. He scored first with Mcmiracle ($6.40) in the opener, overseeing a jaunty wire-to-wire 1:59.3 maiden victory for the three-year-old filly whom he trains. He then summoned a seventh-to-first kick from Ceasars Palace ($4.70), another from his barn, in the stretch to win the fourth race by a head in 1:58.1.
The Calgary, Alta.-based driver finished second in the third race with Arrhythmic Dream and again in the eighth with Crown Princess, taking him to within touching distance of the milestone. Baby Badger then produced an even effort to finish fifth in the 10th race and earned $220, enough for the reinsman to hit $20 million.
Campbell made his pari-mutuel debut in 2003 and has since amassed 2,972 wins and recorded $20,002,659 in earnings in 15,383 starts. The 42-year-old has won the driving title at Century Downs six times, including four in a row from 2020 to 2023. He was at his most prolific in 2023, when he racked up 293 victories and $2.2 million in earnings while leading the standings at Century Downs, Century Mile, and Fraser Downs. Consistently one of western Canada’s highest-percentage drivers, Campbell has logged five straight seasons over .400 in UDRS and is on track for a sixth this year.
Despite missing the first six weeks of 2025 due to injury, Campbell’s numbers have resurged this year. He is 175-for-688 in the bike, a win rate of 25.4 per cent, and he secured his sixth driving title at Century Downs. Up next for the Alberta native is 3,000 driving wins, needing just 28 more to do so.
