A pair of 11-1 shots were separated by a short nose at the wire in a $13,000 female pace when Russell Foster-driven The Lion Sleeps came back on the inside to nip Ideal Hudson (Donnie Long) in 1:54.4 in a tight photo. Wonderful World (Sean Bier) was a close. It was a double for driver Foster and his dad, owner-trainer Arty Foster, Jr.
In a $12,000 mares pace, Take Em was Corey Callahan's second winner on the card. Trained by Bob Reeser for Shirley LeVin, it was the Palone Ranger-Fighting Major Usa sophomore filly’s third win this year, upping her seasonal payroll to $52,770. Imaryabeaver (Tetrick) was next in front of Goin Again (Vince Copeland) in the 1:52 mile.
