It has been reported that authorities in Georgia recently broke up what is being dubbed as an 'elaborate horse racing operation' in Meriwether County

.

An article on wsbtv.com explains that a site which contained 33 horses, trucks and horse trailers, and concession stands selling beer and liquor, was raided yesterday. Three hundred people were at the location when the raid took place.

“There was an elaborate race track for these horses to run on consisting of fencing, sand and a starting gate, much like the ones you would see at the Kentucky Derby,” Sheriff Steve Whitlock was quoted as saying.
