It has been reported that on Wednesday, March 2, legislation which would see pari-mutuel wagering become legal in the state of Georgia made it out of a preliminary committee with unanimous approval.

An article on ocala.com explains that the road to legal wagering on horse racing in the state is long.

According to the report, the legislation will now go to a second committee. If it gets passed that committee, it can face a full vote on the Georgia House floor. If it gets passed by the House, it would go to the Senate for approval. If the Senate passes it, the legislation would then be the subject of a statewide referendum.
