Making a round trip to the winner’s circle against the boys in the Open class on the WEG circuit will have to wait at least another week for the talented distaffer

Dreamfair Eternal.

“She won't go tonight as she has a slight temperature of 101 and she only ate half of her feed,” owner/breeder John Lamers told Trot Insider. “So rather than race her we'll get her 100%. It must be the up and down change in temperature. She hasn't been sick all year.”

The O’Brien Award-winning homebred daughter of Camluck-J Cs Nathalie, who beat the boys in last Saturday’s $42,000 Open Pace, was scheduled to depart from Post 7 in this evening’s ninth race at Woodbine Racetrack.

Last week’s triumph was the sixth consecutive tally for Dreamfair Eternal, who is now a 44-time winner. She has banked in excess of $923,000 this season and close to $1.7 million to date. Canada’s Older Pacing Mare of the Year in 2009 figures to be a slam dunk in that category again this season, and many consider her to be one of the leading candidates to win this nation’s Horse of the Year award, as well.

I hope she does indeed get Horse of the Year. She deserves it
