It was a night of upsets in Tuesday evening’s Preferred events at Georgian Downs thanks to the eye-catching wins by O U Legacy and Keystone Matt.
O U Legacy lit up the toteboard in the $13,000 Preferred Trot when he rallied to a 1:59.2 score at odds of 26-1 for the duo of trainer Robin Furlong and driver Robert Shepherd.
The six-year-old son of Angus Hall made a bold three-wide move at the three-quarter pole to clear to the lead, and he held on to win by a quarter of a length over The Original. Con Man recovered from an early miscue to finish third.
Mike Wassilyn of Toronto, ON holds the papers on the gelding, who won for the fourth time this season. He has banked in excess of $75,000 in his career.
Keystone Matt used a strong kick in the stretch to post a 6-1 mild surprise in the $13,000 Preferred Pace for the team of trainer Ben Wallace and driver Mario Baillargeon.
After battling sickness late last month, the four-year-old son of Western Hanover managed to win his first start off the shelf thanks to a late rally. He rode cover from third-over and kicked home in :28.4 to post the neck decision over Amillionpennies. Forrest Rhythm rounded out the top three.
The pacer has picked up seven wins this season for owner Brad Grant of Milton, ON. the 14-time winner went over $264,000 in lifetime earnings with the win.
