Serge Masse's Somewhere A Place worked her way to the lead through the first quarter and then never look back in the $35,000 B.C. stakes event for two-year-old pacing fillies on Friday, Nov. 20 at Fraser Downs.

Hanalei Bay (Bill Davis) hustled off the gate from the far outside to grab the early lead, but even-money favourite Somewhere A Place pressed on through the opening quarter in :28.1 and then cleared to command as the field moved in front of the grandstand for the first time. Somewhere A Place continued to lead the fillies in single-file fashion to the half in :59.3. No Guarantees (Brandon Campbell) then tipped to the outside from fourth, but Somewhere A Place kept clear of her rivals past three-quarters in 1:28.3 and completed the mile in 1:58.1. Jet To The Beach (Glenn White) rallied off cover into the stretch to get up for second-place. Hanalei Bay held on for third over the quick-closing Killean Finale (Rod Therres) and No Guarantees. B.C. Breeders Stakes champion Mach And Roll Baby (Jim Marino) was sixth with only three lengths separating the fillies, with the exception of Charabby (Paul Davies), who was unable to recover from an early break in stride.

Somewhere A Place made her first stakes start a winning one. The Somebeachsomewehere filly now boasts three wins, two seconds and one third in seven career starts and earnings totalling $27,928.

In other action, John Chappell earned a training triple on the 10-race card with Ashlynn Grace ($4.40), Krystal Pistol ($7.50), and Alley Scat ($9.30) each winning their respective assignments.
