The wind and dark winter ushered in four divisions of the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) for trotting juveniles, contesting their second leg of this series which will head into the $100K finals next Tuesday, Nov. 24.
The first non-wagering race was for fillies and was won by Whitesville Beulah (Anders Bluestone-Whitesville Tara) in 2:01.2, a lifetime best and also her second win in a row. She was bred by owner-trainer Gary White of Delmar, MD and driven by David Hill. Toni Lee was placed second and Kims Command was third.
The second non-wagering race was all Big Al M, the Harrington final winner (Anders Bluestone-Bringing Up Lindy) who put his win streak at four with a 1:59.3 win for owner and breeder Bobby Myers. Eric Davis trains the winner while his father Eddie Davis, Jr. sat in the sulky. Second was Malachis Test, followed by Roll Juan for show.
Opening the daily double was the second division of colts and geldings, which saw Rhett (Keystone Activator-Lake Serena) score in wire-to-wire fashion for driver Tony Morgan in 1:59. Rhett is trained and co-owned by 90-year-old Donnie Wiest and is co-owned by his son David. Donnie is also the breeder. Altar Call finished second followed by Blue Devil in third.
The final race for fillies was a four-deep dash to the first turn, and at the wire it was first-time Dover leg winner Designers Edge (Hes Spooky-Designate) in 2:02.2, a lifetime mark. She is owned and trained by Harry Marsh, Jr. and was bred by Virginia Louthan. Billy Long drove the winner. Amy Wil was second and Jazzy Judy was third.
