Blooded Horse Sales Company hosted the 2021 Fall Speed Sale on Tuesday (Nov. 16) with Winnerup, selling as Hip 218, bringing the highest price of a day filled with nearly 400 racehorses going through the ring.

A five-year-old stallion by Credit Winner, Winnerup exited the ring at the hammer slam for the final bid of $80,000 by Ohio's Herman Hagerman. Ron Burke previously trained and co-owned Winnerup, a winner of $334,359, with Weaver Bruscemi LLC.

East Beach sold a few horses earlier while bringing the second-highest price of the day – a final bid of $57,000 – when selling to Bill MacKenzie of Cranbury, New Jersey. The five-year-old Beachtrea gelding is another horse exiting the Ron Burke barn, doing so with a bankroll of $159,492 currently to his name. Another top seller from the Burke stable was Free Thinker, a stakes-winning daughter of Western Vintage whom Ohioan Roy Murphy purchased for $40,000.

The third-highest sale of the day came soon after the sales topper exited the ring as Hip 220, Emma Town Bud, drew a final price of $52,000. A four-year-old gelding by Big Stick Lindy, Emma Town Bud exits the Byron Hooley barn after having raced with Travis Alexander when trying east coast competition in the Graduate Series back in late May. Michael Spaccarelli Jr. of Pleasant Valley, New York. struck the winning bid on Emma Town Bud.

Broodmares and potential broodmares were in high demand, with the young Art Major daughter Member Berry (p,2,1:55.2) topping that category on a $50,000 bid from Midwind Farms of Ohio. Emerald Highlands consigned the half-sister of Breeders Crown winner Reflect With Me. Midwind Farms also signed the ticket for Captainandtelly for $36,000, a Captaintreacherous filly from the same consignment.

Spring Haven Farm did a superhuman job offering over 80 personal and agent horses at the one-day venue. Their consignment was led by the producing Cantab Hall matron Meadowbranch Jill, purchased by Marvin Kuhns of Pennsylvania for $42,000. Randy Haines of Cool Winds Farm won the bidding war on Somewhere Sweet p,2,1:51.1f ($356,309), in foal to Sweet Lou, for $35,000. Hallmark Session, in foal to What The Hill, was purchased by Vanessa Schockemoehl of Germany for $35,000. Schockemoehl was also the successful bidder on Marion Mardi Gras, a Cantab Hall half-sister to Hambletonian winner Marion Marauder, for $30,000 from the Ruddick Stables consignment.

The sale opened with 100 black-type yearlings eligible to a variety of state-funded programs. First-crop sire Enterprise, by Chapter Seven, was responsible for the top two, with Richard Owings of Ohio signing the ticket for $28,000 on the filly Royalentertainment from Rose Run Farm, and David Ratchford of Nova Scotia winning the bid at $25,000 for the colt Beach Friend, consigned by Dublin Valley Farm. Also of note were the Stay Hungry colt Dark As Night, consigned by Ruddick Stables and sold to Erv Miller of New Jersey for $22,000, and the Swan For All colt No More Tickets from the Spring Haven Farm consignment, who went to Byron Hooley of Indiana for $21,000.
