No 2016 IN Driving Licence For Wrenn

Driver Peter Wrenn has agreed to not seek a licence to drive Standardbreds in the State of Indiana in 2016 after having reached an agreement with the Indiana Horse Racing Commission.

According to an article by The Herald Bulletin, the situation stems from a pair of August steers that Wrenn had given to the three-year-old gelding Get Rockin at Hoosier Park.

Racing commission officials had ruled that Wrenn had "failed to display competitive urging during the stretch drive" of the races. Wrenn had countered by saying that one of the races in question saw Get Rockin pace the fastest mile of his career thus far.

Wrenn had begun the process to fight the commission’s ruling, but he opted to drop that venture. The settlement agreement states that Wrenn opted for the settlement "in order to avoid the expense, distraction and uncertainties associated with further litigation."

Wrenn was handed a 30-day driving suspension (from October 14 to November 12) due to the races in question.

Wrenn drove this horse a total of 3 times and oddly enough the horse paced faster in all 3 starts then he has ever paced in his entire life. Check his lines!! Beating the crap out of a horse does not necessarily mean it will go faster more oft than not it will only slow down. The whip is way over rated. They are RACE horses they know there job they don't need to be beaten half to death... they get it!! Some of these punters that feel the need to blame everyone but themselves for making a bad bet need to be a little more honest with themselves and a little less critical of others. Oh, just to be clear I detest liars and cheats. If someone is a crook get rid of them no problem here, but don't hang a person for what they haven't done.

Sadly, Mr McKenna would be absolutely correct if there was a "public eye". Harness racing lost most of that long ago!!

He's too good of a driver to not find work. I would like to see him back at the meadowlands.

Gee, sounds like he is being tried as if he's guilty on this board, what is with that?

Didn't see the races, but those were two of the better lines on horse's card. 2nd @ 25-1 and next race was with more than 2 weeks rest and debuting for new trainer.

Maybe, they need to get some new, former drivers acting as judges in Ohio, as on the surface, this smells...

Another blow to the industry's reputation as seen through the publics eye. This should never have been settled this way. Put him through the system the way all offenders should be put through. I think it would be a totally different penalty.

So Indiana gets rid of a problem but whatever other state Wrenn drives at inherits his baggage. The U S T A should not allow him to drive anywhere until he is dealt with through the system and found guilty or not guilty based on the evidence.
