On the special Tuesday evening (Oct. 8) program at Rideau Carleton Raceway, Mandy Archer harnessed three winners from her stable.
Scandia Hannibal ($3.10) got the ball rolling for Archer in the card opener, a $5,600 conditioned pace, as he was driven by Guy Gagnon to a gate-to-wire victory in 1:59 by 1-1/2 lengths. Pizzazz Hanover (Pascal Berube) finished second with Godro Bets Off (Robert Shepherd) third. Jamie Copley owns the freshman Sportswriter-Lucky Taryn colt, who won his second race in as many starts.
D A Magic Mike ($2.20) followed in race three, a $6,000 conditioned pace, with a three-quarter length victory in 1:55.3 orchestrated by Guy Gagnon. D A Captainobvious (Ryan Guy) grabbed second and Hardoo Parking (Darcy Clancy) rounded out the top three. The McWicked-Taboo Seelster sophomore gelding is owned by Michel Letarte, Jamie Copley, Kimberly Eaton and Max Webster Stable.
Beef N Cheddar ($3.70) and Robert Shepherd completed the hat trick for Archer, winning the claiming pace worth $5,200 by three lengths in 1:54. Alwaysyourway (Jimmy Gagnon) was second and Bs Tyriffic (Ryan Guy) was third. Jamie Copley, Kimberly Eaton, Darren Tingley and Duane Tingley co-own the six-year-old gelded son of Betterthancheddar-Opinionated.
Archer currently leads all trainers at Rideau for wins this season with 77 and has a nine-win advantage over Guy Gagnon in second-place. Her win count ranks among the top 10 for trainers in the nation.
The Tuesday program was run as a rescheduled race date due to the Run For A Cure event held on the track this past Sunday.
