Hall of Fame horseman Keith Clark kicked off the Fraser Downs fall-winter meet Friday night with a training-driving triple while Hector Protector equalled the two-year-old gelding track record as part of a Rick White double
.
Clark, the Alberta Downs meet leader, took the top spot in the Fraser standings after winning one third of the evening's races with Artistically ($6.40), I Kan Dee ($3.10) and Rossridge Fortune ($6.90).
White, who is now just two wins away from his 1,000th training triumph, guided the career debuting Usher Hannover gelding Hector Protector ($7.70) gate-to-wire to win his third race assignment by four and a quarter lengths in 1:56.4, matching Nobody Can's gelding record. Another two-year-old Usher Hanover gelding, Thieving Magpie ($3.50), also won his debut for White in 1:57.1 with Darren Howald driving.
