Even though he has competed in Breeders Crowns for years now, they never get old for driver John Campbell. “If you can’t get excited about the Breeders Crown, you shouldn’t be here. I still get excited.”
Campbell's comments came at the Breeders Crown post position draw and press conference, which took place yesterday at Pocono Downs in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
On Saturday, October 9, Pocono Downs will become the first track ever to host all 12 Breeders Crowns on a single night.
Campbell has multiple drives on the program, and one of his most anticipated steers will come in the $500,000 Breeders Crown Three-Year-Old Colt and Gelding Trot, where he will look to hit the wire first with Lucky Chucky, recent winner of the $1 million Canadian Trotting Classic at Mohawk Racetrack.
“Lucky Chucky is a very determined horse," Campbell was quoted as saying. "He gives a great effort and should get a nice trip at Pocono.”
In related news, officials with the Breeders Crown today released the final driver changes for the Saturday program.
