The 2011 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale continued on Wednesday evening in Kentucky with Somebeachsomewhere colt Eagle Nest topping the third session
.
Eagle Nest, Hip 351, was purchased for $180,000 Jeff Gillis of Hillsborough, Ont. Consigned by Diamond Creek Farm, the bay colt is sired by Somebeachsomewhere out of the 1996 Roses Are Red Stakes champion Armbro Nest, making him a half brother to $782,082 earner Lotsa Clout, a Matron Stakes winner at two and Breeders Crown runner-up to Real Desire at three.
When the gavel fell Major Chill, Hip 397, was purchased for $120,000 by Florida's Tony Alagna, acting as agent, from the consignment of Preferred Equine Inc., agent. The grey Art Major colt is the second foal (first colt) out of two-time DSBF champion Jus Chilln Out.
Traumatized, Hip 440, sold for $107,000 to Carl Jamieson of Princeton, Ont. Consigned by Kentuckiana Farms, the brown son of Western Terror and Numberone Treasure is a full brother to $437,265 earner Code Word, an Ontario Sires Stakes Super Final champion at two and this year's Aquarius runner-up.
Two Credit Winner colts also brought in a pair of six-figure bids.
Sam Squared, Hip 302, sold for $100,000 to Fashion Farms of New Hope, Pennsylvania. The brown Credit Winner colt out of Sister Sammy was consigned by Diamond Creek Farm.
Jewel Thief, Hip 359, was purchased for $100,000 by New York’s Ray Schnittker, acting as agent. Consigned by Cameo Hills Farm, the brown Credit Winner colt is out of Jewels Galore.
Finally Famous, Hip 413, also sold with a $100,000 price tag. Consigned by Kentuckiana Farms, the bay Andover Hall colt is the second foal (first colt) out of Celebrity Angel and was purchased by Florida's Continental Farm.
A total of 163 yearlings sold during the third session for $4,834,000, with an average price of $29,656.
The auction will continue through Friday, October 7. Thursday’s session starts at 11:30 a.m.
