The Somebeachsomewhere brother to 2010 U.S. Horse of the Year Rock N Roll Heaven was the sale topper at the opening session of the 2011 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale.

Hitting The Cycle, Hip 103, was sold for $450,000. Hunterton Sales Agency consigned the yearling from the first crop of harness racing's horse of the decade, Somebeachsomewhere. Bruce Saunders and John Cancelliere engaged in a bidding war with Saunders, acting as agent for Frank Bellino, coming out on top with the coveted yearling.

The full brother to 2011 standout two-year-old American Jewel, Source Of Pride was purchased for $280,000 from the Brittany Farms consignment by Jimmy Takter. Sold as Hip 57, Source Of Pride is the second foal - first colt - from Trim Hanover, the dam of American Jewel.

Captaintreacherous, a son of Somebeachsomewhere-Worldly Treasure, went to agent Tony Alagna for $250,000. The first foal out of a full-sister to Worldly Beauty, who sold as Hip 53 was consigned by Preferred Equine Marketing Inc.

The full brother to this year’s Kentucky Futurity winner, Manyofmanymissions, sold for $200,000 to partners Ken Duffy, Mystical Marker Farms and Mike Anderson. Team Six, a Yankee Glide-Armbro Vanquish colt, was raised and consigned by Kentuckiana Farms.

Good Day Mate, a sibling to Put On A Show and Showherthemoney, sold for $170,000 to Chris Oakes of Wilkes Barre, PA. The son of Christian Cullen-Stienams Place was consigned by Kentuckiana Farms.

A total of 112 yearlings went through the sales ring during the opening session at the Fasig-Tipton Sales Pavilion in Lexington, Kentucky, with sales totaling $8.9 million for an average of $79,473 per yearling.

The auction will continue through Friday, Oct. 7. Tuesday's session starts at 7:00 p.m.
