Three-year-old trotting fillies were in the spotlight at Georgian Downs on Tuesday evening, as the five-eighths mile oval hosted five $24,000 O.S.S. Grassroots

divisions.

Scottish Starlet led through fractions of :28, :57.4 and 1:27.4 en route to a 1:58.1 triumph in the opening split for the tandem of driver Scott Coulter and trainer Mike Keeling. The daughter of Angus Hall-NY Starlet drew off to win by 2-3/4 lengths over pocket-sitter Oaklea Sierra (Jason Gilchrist). Sooner Than Later (Tony Kerwood) grabbed the show dough.

The victory was the second of the season for Scottish Starlet, who is owned by the Ontario partnership of P C Wellwood Enterprises Inc, Charles Armstrong and Robert Fasken. The career winner of $64,710 has now racked up 112 points in the Grassroots program this season.

With Mike Langdon in tow, the Emma Frieze pupil drew off to win by five lengths over Northern Gem (Scott Coulter) in a time of 1:58.2. Pretty Amigo (Bruce Richardson) tagged along to finish third.

It was the third win of the season for the filly, who was purchased earlier this year by the Double Or Nothing Stables and Fintec Stables of Hamilton, ON. They shelled out $26,000 on August 22 to purchase the sophomore from the Summer Sizzler Mixed Sale. She has banked $47,520 to date.

The Ken Warkentin-Spark Of Abbey lass rallied to win by three-quarters of a length over Isthatallyagot (Anthony MacDonald) in a time of 1:57.4. Always A Favorite (Simon Allard) rounded out the top three finishers.

John Wagner of Fairfax and Scott Woogen of Mechanicsville, VA share ownership on the youngster, who won for the third time this season. The lion’s share of the purse lifted her cash stash to $65,000.

R Tonys Girl survived a first-over journey to win the fourth division in a career-best clocking of 1:58 for Dan Clements, who guided the Shane Weber-trained daughter of Kadabra-Go Go Tracey to her second lifetime win. She prevailed by a one-length margin over Ruling Class (Steve Byron), with Boots N Hearts (Dave Wall) finishing third.

Tom and Elizabeth Rankin of St. Catherine’s, ON bred and own the trotting lass who upped her lifetime earnings to $28,750 with the win.

Taco rallied to a 1:58.1 in the final split, and in doing so pulled off a 9-1 surprise for the combination of driver Scott Coulter and trainer Scott Barr. The daughter of Amigo Hall-Quail Ridge, who was making her first start of the season in the O.S.S. program, defeated Canada Cool (Simon Allard) and Carscot Review (Paul Walker).

Anne Shunock of Dorchester, ON owns the two-time winner. The filly has banked in excess of $34,000 in her career.
