The 2024 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale wrapped up on the evening of Friday, Oct. 4 with Spoil Me Silly topping the fifth session at the Fasig-Tipton Sales Pavilion in Lexington, Kentucky.

Spoil Me Silly, selling as Hip 870, brought a final bid of $216,216 ($160,000 USD) from M & L Of Delaware of Wilmington, Delaware. Bred and consigned by Kentuckiana Farms, the Swan For All-Wishimaywishimight filly is a half sister to multiple Ontario Sires Stakes winner R Liza ($447,083 - 1:53.1s) and the Grand Circuit stakes-placed two-year-old Manforce ($27,314 - Q1:58.3s) -- both also owned by the winning bidder.

Malibu Barbie Deo, Hip 810, was the second highest priced yearling of the final session with a price tag of $202,703 ($150,000 USD). She was purchased by Odds On Racing of Boca Raton, Florida. Consigned by agent Preferred Equine, the Downbytheseaside filly is out of the Bettors Delight mare Miss L A, a full sister to two-time O'Brien Award winner and millionaire L A Delight. Malibu Barbie Deo sold the same day her Captaintreacherous two-year-old sister Rodeo Drive Deo ($204,356) won her second straight Grand Circuit stakes at The Red Mile, taking an International Stallion division in new mark of 1:50.1.

Sweet Wave, Hip 851, sold for $195,946 ($145,000 USD) with Jodi Schillaci of Macedonia, Ohio as the winning bidder. Consigned by All American Harnessbreds, the Downbytheseaside colt is the second foal out of Sweet N Swifty, a Sweet Lou sister to 2010 Tattersalls Pace winner Naughtytiltheend.

Goodwill, Hip 907, was purchased for $162,162 ($120,000 USD) by Greg Luther of Blacklick, Ohio from the Diamond Creek consignment. The son of Downbytheseaside is the first foal out of the Always B Miki mare Blend. The colt's dam is a half sibling to stakes winners Proof and Almanac. 

Rounding out the top five yearlings of the day was Seaside Shuffle, Hip 886, who sold for $155,405 ($115,000 USD) to Burke Racing Stable of Fredericktown, Pennsylvania. Consigned by agent Diamond Creek, Downbytheseaside filly is the third foal out of Hula Shuffle, a Santanna Blue Chip sister to double millionaire Maltese Artitst. Seaside Shuffle is a full sister to Burke Racing Stable's Ohio stakes winner Twenty Five ($67,636 - 1:51.4f) as well as a half sibling to $300,000 earner Twenty.

The fifth session of the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale featured 140 yearlings with gross sales totalling $6,313,108 ($4,671,700 USD) for an average price comparable to last year's final session average of $45,093 ($33,369 USD).

Over the course of the five-day sale, a total of 911 yearlings sold for $88,800,946 ($65,712,700 USD), which is the second highest gross total for the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale, down approximately 3.3 per cent from last year's record sale. The average price increased slightly at $97,476 ($72,132 USD). 

Walner was the leading stallion with 51 of his offspring selling for $12,075,676 ($8,936,000 USD) and an average price of $236,778 ($175,216 USD) over the course of the five sessions. For pacing stallions, Captaintreacherous led for gross sales with 50 of his yearlings selling for $10,244,595 ($7,581,000 USD) while Bulldog Hanover offspring had the highest average price with nine selling for an average of $132,432 ($98,000 USD).
