A number of horses that comprise the 2021 TROT Magazine Fantasy Stable were successful during Breeders Crown weekend, and those victories have created a dramatic shift atop the contest leaderboard.
Thanks to the Breeders Crown wins of Perfect Sting and Rebuff, plus the runner-up finish of Cattlewash, Kyle Gillis of Charlottetown, P.E.I. has vaulted to the lead in the Fantasy Stable contest. Gillis' Kyle Gillis Racing stable leapfrogged to the top with a total bankroll of $5.82 million. Aaron Skilton's Somestablesomewhere kept pace with the leader thanks to Perfect Sting and Ocean Rock, and now sits second more than $5.71 million earned. Jim Gillespie also made solid gains up the standings courtesy Breeders Crown wins for Test Of Faith and Perfect Sting, and he now sits third with $5.65 million.
The TROT Fantasy Stable Contest is based on total earnings of selected horses and five percent of the earnings of selected trainers and drivers between May 16 and Dec. 31, 2021.
For the purposes of the fantasy bankroll, the winners (horses only) of the 2021 Breeders Crown Finals each received a $200,000 contest bankroll bonus. Also, in the two-year-old categories, contestants were allowed to select two horses.
At the end of the year, the winner of the contest will receive entry into and travel to the 2022 World Harness Handicapping Championship, a prize valued at (approx) $1,300.
