Four-Year Ban Over Integrity Issues

It was recently announced that a harness driver has been handed a four-year ban and a $500 fine after having been found guilty of charges relating to racing integrity issues.

On October 26, Racing and Wagering Western Australia announced that reinsman Michael Young had been found guilty of four charges. A pair of the charges related to Young not driving his horse to the best of its ability in a race, and conveying that information to another individual beforehand for wagering purposes.

The other two charges were in regard to Young having not notified stewards before the race that he would be steering his mount, Babyhouseman NZ, in a manner that was off form, and that months later he carried out activities of a licensed participant while suspended.

The most serious charges carried three and four-year bans from the sport. The charges will be carried out concurrently. Young is currently banned form the sport until May, 31, 2020.
