Trot Insider has learned that longtime Standardbred horseman Bruce Cummings is this year’s recipient of the Scugog Sports Hall of Fame’s Scugog Pioneer Award.
Cummings, of Port Perry, Ont. retired from racing just over three years ago. The 81-year-old is a former owner/driver/trainer who raced for over five decades.

“Bruce is being recognized as a pioneer in sport for everything that he has done in the Standardbred industry,” Brenda Robinson, the organizations’ recreation and culture associate told Trot Insider. “It will be a short presentation, but we like to recognize the people that do the groundwork in the Scugog area.”
Cummings will receive his award on Thursday, November 9 at the Scugog Arena in Port Perry.
The doors will open at 6:00 p.m.
