Daylon Blizzard slipped up the rail to capture the $7,000 Xtreme Sprint Series second leg division on Friday night at Georgian Downs
. The series is open to pacers, four years old and upwards that have started in an $8,000 or less claiming event at a racetrack in Ontario after August 31, 2010.
Driven by Simon Allard, Daylon Blizzard followed Countryline Cam (Aaron Byron) one lap around the 5/8th mile Innisfil oval before zipping up the pylons to score by a head in 1:10.1. Tedeschi (Scott Coulter) came on for third with 6-5 favourite Linatawa N (Isaac Waxman) finishing fourth.
Daylon Blizzard paid $8.40 to win as the 3-1 third choice. Michigan’s William Johnson trains the seven-year-old gelded son of Intrepid Seelster-Bermuda Hanover, a winner of five races in 35 starts this year and over $17,000.
The Xtreme Sprint Series moves to Flamboro Downs next on Sunday, Oct. 31 featuring a half-mile dash. Daylon Blizzard will be back in action in a half-mile sprint at Western Fair Raceway on Tuesday, Nov. 2. Kawartha Downs will also host a leg of the Xtreme Sprint on Tuesday. The top nine point earners from the Xtreme Sprint legs will advance to the $20,000 championship, a 5/8-mile dash at Georgian Downs on Nov. 16.
