Two Indiana-sired trotters each sold for $175,000 during the second session of the Hoosier Classic Yearling Sale on Saturday, October 26.
Bluebird Spirit, Hip No. 251, and Meadowbrook Jane, Hip No. 278, both brought $175,000 through the sale ring. Both are products of Swan for All.
Bluebird Spirit, a first foal from the tough race mare Goosebump Hanover, was the first to sell for $175,000. The Swan for All colt has had a lot of success on his maternal side. That fact, coupled with a superior looking individual, caught the eye of trainer Roger Welch and owner William DeLong of Wisconsin. The colt was part of the Blue Bird Meadows consignment.
The second yearling to sell for $175,000 was the Swan for All filly Meadowbrook Jane. The filly is a full sister to two-year-old trotting sensation TJs Top Pick, who is part of the Jeff Cullipher barn. Both Cullipher and his owner, Tom Pollack, were ringside to purchase the yearling filly.
According to the Hoosier Classic Yearling Sale website, 358 yearlings sold over the two-day sale for a gross of more than $6.45 million. The average price of the yearlings sold was $18.028. For complete results, click here.
