The largest business fraud case in Hamilton history concluded today with Robert K. Waxman sentenced to serve eight years in prison
.
Formerly one of harness racing's most prominent owners, Waxman was also fined $15.5 million US by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. As noted in the 30-page ruling, the court also ordered Waxman to pay just under $18 million in restitution to Philip Services.
Brian Greenspan, lawyer for the defense told the Hamilton Spectator the sentence would be appealed.
