On Tuesday night, three divisions of the “Rickshaw Rumble” -- which featured a human as the horse pulling a sulky -- were contested for charity.
The event, held at Harrington Raceway, was organized by local TV personality Heather Vitale. All proceeds of the event go to benefit Horse Lovers United, a charitable organization that finds homes for retired horses who can no longer compete.
In racing action, Jeff and David Clark’s Ash Larue scored her third straight win Tuesday in the $19,000 Mares Open in 1:52.3.
The Jeff Clark-trained Ash Larue was sent for the lead early by driver Jim Morand and they never relinquished it en route to the two-length score over Moms Toy and Scarlet Pandemic. It was the 31st career win for the eight-year-old Artiscape mare who surpassed $350,000 in career earnings.
It was one of three driving wins for Morand, who also won three on Monday. Victor Kirby also had a three win night.
