Double L Mystic, a sister to $290,000 earning open class pacing mare Hot Night, topped Saturday's ASHA Yearling Sale in Olds, Alta.

Keith Clark collared the Camystic yearling from the Double L Stables consignment for $31,000.

"The sale was well attended with a number of new faces in the crowd," ASHA President Neil Malloch told Trot Insider. "The overall attitude was positive and that carried over go the sale where buyers still willing to pay good prices for good horses."

A total of 70 yearlings were sold on Saturday night, with total sales of $445,300 and an average price of $6,361.

"I think overall the breeders and consignors were happy with the results and I hope this helps build momentum towards a good fall meet and a positive 2010," continued Malloch.

In the days prior to the sale, a freak wind storm ripped through Olds, Alberta and did significant damage to the Megadome building. Despite best efforts, it was decided in the best interest of everyone to deem that part of the building unsafe. Malloch was appreciative of the work done to help the sale proceed as the sale was moved to an alternative location within the facility.

"The venue at Olds was great with the Ag society working very hard to make our sale and stay with them a success."

Full results of the sale are available on the ASHA website. For a PDF of the results click here.
