Driver Trevor Henry has been on fire since harness racing returned to London’s half-mile oval, and he kept the ball rolling during Tuesday’s card at The Raceway.
Among his victories was a 1:56.1 tally in the $12,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace with the Richard Moreau-trained Sand Gesture, who clicked as the 3-2 favourite in the seven-horse affair.
Henry worked out a ground-saving journey for the mare in the early stages of the mile, and when room opened up in the late going the mare had more than enough pace to win the featured tilt by 1-1/4 lengths over Pathtodover. Misty Moonstone, who set the tempo, faded late to finish third.
Sylvain Descheneaux and Gaston Bibeau of Sorel-Tracy, QC share ownership on the 14-time winner, who now owns a 5-8-5 record from 35 starts this season. She’s banked close to $90,000 this year and more than $424,000 to date.
As for Henry, he also visited victory lane with Acra Beach Bajan (1:58.2) in Race 3, Sissy Bar (1:57.4) in Race 6, Roca Rei (1:56.4) in Race 8, Sweet Bet (1:56.2) in Race 11 and Cat Quick (1:58.2) in Race 12.
The Arthur, ON horseman has registered 25 wins throughout the first four cards since racing returned to the London oval, and that’s helped him vault past Billy Davis, Jr. as the nation’s dash-leading reinsman. Henry has notched 400 wins on Canadian soil this season, and going into Tuesday evening’s card at Georgian Downs Billy Davis, Jr. had 395 victories.
