Six $20,000 divisions for the first leg of the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) stakes for two-year-old pacers were contested Monday at Harrington Raceway over a sloppy racetrack.
The top eight point earners in each division will return on closing night October 29, to compete in $100,000 finals.
Among the three filly divisional winners was James Wilson’s Ally Wishes ($99.60, Tony Morgan), who sprung an upset in the first division. The By A Length filly saved ground most of the mile and used the passing lane late for a narrow win over Seboomook Boo Yah. It was her first win in five career starts for owner/trainer Wilson.
The second filly division went to Scott Woogen’s K Js Caroline ($2.60, Jim Morand) who was a front-stepping winner over Lookout Stokk Zone in 1:57.4. Trained by John Wagner, the Roddys Bags Again filly notched her fifth win in eight career starts.
Daryl Bier and Charles Dombeck’s Inittowinafortune ($2.40, Bier) held off a game Friendsnheartbeat for a narrow win in the final filly division in 1:57. Inittowinafortune set a hot pace throughout and held off the pocket sitter for the Cams Fortune-sired filly’s fourth win in seven lifetime starts.
In the first of three colt divisions, Nanticoke Racing and Donna Messick’s Ilikethemtrashy ($5.40, Morand) was a first-over winner for trainer Les Givens. The Art Director filly collared pacesetter Company After Six, who finished second, on the far turn and drew clear in the stretch impressively in 1:57.
Archie Peel’s Ramblin Bob ($2.60, Allan Davis) took the second division in 1:57.1 at odds-on. Trained by Peel, Ramblin Bob set most of the fractions in his win over Quick Rod.
The final colt division saw Rodney Long and Tim and Joe Hundertpfund’s Hot Roddy ($2.10, George Dennis) dominate in 1:58.1. The Roddys Bags Again colt set all the fractions from the rail post position in his three length win over Buzz Mcqueen.
In the $22,000 overnight feature, the Open Pace, Bob Briley and Baron Racing Stable’s Dancin Yankee ($3, Ross Wolfenden) overcame post eight for trainer Josh Green to win in 1:53.1.
Dennis and Morand each had three driving wins.
