Buddyville, Catchmegracefully Take Stakes Finals At Fraser

Fraser Downs held the finals of the conditioned B.C. Bred Stakes for three- and four-year-olds on Thursday, Oct. 10 with Buddyville and Catchmegracefully both setting lifetime marks in their respective events. The triumph in the final was also the fifth consecutive victory for Buddyville.

The $20,000 finale for the males featured a full class of eight going to the gate and Buddyville fit himself into post seven with Scott Knight in the bike for trainer Rod Therres. 

Buddyville got away in the back of the pack from the edge of the wings, landing in sixth through the quarter in :27.3. He moved to the outside through the half in :55.4 and continued on the journey overland through the three-quarters in 1:24. Still fifth at the top of the stretch, Buddyville had to kick into another gear to rush home and win by three-quarters of a length in a career best time of 1:53.3. Nothing Bugs Me (Serge Masse) finished second over Phone Nine One One (Philip Giesbrecht).

Veikko Pajunen owns Buddyville (pictured above), a four-year-old gelded son of Huntsville and the Rocknroll Hanover mare Baez. This season, he has won eight times in 14 starts and in 30 career starts, he has won 12 times. He paid $3.80 to win.

Catchmegracefully took the $20,000 final for the fillies and mares, making every call from announcer Dan Jukich a winning one.

Glenn White and his student set out from post five and they took command early. Catchmegracefully hit the poles with times in :27.3, :58.2, and 1:26.2. With ease, she opened up to win by 3-1/4 lengths in a new lifetime mark of 1:54.4. Senorita Draco (Phil Giebrecht) took second with Vintage Lass (Kelly Hoerdt) third.

Catchmegracefully (Chucaro Acero Bc - Odds On Carmen) is a sophomore filly owned by Glenn White. This season, she has tallied 7-6-0 in 15 starts. She has seven career victories in 19 starts. She paid $3.60 to win.

Arrhythmic Dream and Giesbrecht teamed up to take the $10,000 Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace, following a pocket trip to victory by three-quarters of a length in 1:54.1. Goodbye Ceia Later (Serge Masse) moved from last to take second and Grey Sea (John Abbott) completed the show ticket. 

Jim Marino trains the Hes Watching - Sammy Syd four-year-old mare, who he co-owns with J J J Stables. She recorded her third win on the season and ninth career victory, pushing her lifetime sum to $113,165. She paid $13.70 to win.
