Trot Insider has learned that stakes winner and Open class pacer Stonebridge Terror has been retired and will stand stud in 2014.

Developed by trainer Jack Darling, Stonebridge Terror won early in his career in sub-1:55 fashion by taking a 1:54.4 speed badge at Mohawk Racetrack and finished up his season with a solid runner-up finish to divisional leader Nebupanezzar in the Ontario Sires Stakes Super Final. As a three-year-old, Stonebridge Terror made headlines early in the season with a victory in the inaugural Upper Canada Cup at Georgian Downs.

Stonebridge Terror was sold near the completion of his three-year-old season and purchased in part by current owner Reg Petitpas of New Brunswick. The pacing colt lowered his mark to 1:51.1 and was race timed in 1:49.2.

As an aged horse, Stonebridge Terror competed at or near the Preferred and Open classes and won elimination races for the Molson Pace and the Gold Cup & Saucer (twice).

The 16-time winner retired with more than $830,000 in career earnings.

Petitpas, who co-owns the eight-year-old son of Western Terror with his wife Louise, told Trot Insider that Stonebridge Terror will stand his first season at stud in 2014 for $1,000 at Robert Gordon's Elm Grove Farm in Prince Edward Island.
