First Foal For JK Shesalady

The multi-talented female pacer JK Shesalady was an outstanding individual on the racetrack, and now she’ll look to pass on that greatness to her daughter.

Matched up with sire Western Ideal, JK Shesalady gave birth to a beautiful, healthy filly this past weekend, and her connections couldn’t be happier with the outcome.

"She was born Saturday at Hanover Shoe Farms, Dr. J [Bridgette Jablonsky] says she's a beautiful filly with a lot of spunk,” said former trainer Nancy Johansson. “We’re hoping to get out to Hanover and see her next week.

“We are obviously all very excited and happy that the filly is healthy and that JK Shesalady had an easy time foaling and is doing well,” she added.

When it came to selecting a nursery to send the mare to, it was a no-brainer for the connections of the stakes-winning performer. JK Shesalady's unbeaten season in 2014 lofted her to Horse of the Year honours in Canada and the U.S for trainer Johansson and owners 3 Brothers Stable of New York.

"JK Shesalady was sent to Hanover to be bred to Western Ideal,” said Johansson. “His fertility is better when he breeds mares close by, so the decision was made to send her there. Dr. J and the entire Hanover Shoe staff do a great job with their mares and foals, so we all felt comfortable sending her there as we knew she would be well cared for.”

As for the next mating, JK Shesalady has a hot date with one of the sport’s most exciting new stallions -– one that Johansson, her family and the rest of the harness racing industry fell in love with this past season.

“JK Shesalady will be bred to Always B Miki this year," said Johansson.

Johansson’s father, Jimmy Takter, campaigned the extremely-gifted son of Always A Virgin to a memorable career which was highlighted by his 1:46 performance -– the fastest in the history of the sport -– at The Red Mile last fall.
