Golden Receiver put on another show at The Meadowlands on Saturday night as he completed a sweep of the Presidential Series for the second straight year with another sub-1:50 clocking in the $103,500 final.

Our Horse Cents Stables and Nina Simmonds' Golden Receiver was pushed full-tilt through a wild :25.3 opening quarter and was denied the early lead by Mr Hasani N. Down the backstretch, Tim Tetrick moved the Mark Harder trainee to the lead just in time as a few moments later, Mr Hasani N went off-stride. He then had to fend off Dial Or No Dial and all the rest and he did so with contempt for his opponents. The win in 1:49.3 on a cold and windy night marks his 19th sub-1:50 winning performance as he adds to that record.

In the $67,400 Clyde Hirt Final, it was Tim Tetrick again, guiding a very game Holdingallthecards to a 1:51.1 victory for trainer Scott Didomenico. The four-year-old gelded son of Cams Card Shark, another series sweeper, made a first over move down the backstretch and quickly took command to a half-mile in :55.2. He simply could not be caught and scored his fourth consecutive victory since arriving at The Meadowlands.

Owner William McIntyre was at a loss for words.

“I liked him,” said McIntyre, “I thought we got a nice horse, but I could never have dreamed of this. He is going to stay here for a while; next he’ll be in the Exit 16W in February.”

There he will likely face many of the same foes he saw in the Clyde Hirt.

The Super Bowl was billed as one of the deepest and most talented fields in some time and in the end, it lived up to advanced billing. Windsun Galliano, despite post 10, worked out a perfect trip following Wisenheimer in the cover flow. Turning for home, the four-year-old son of Ken Warkentin, took aim on his stablemate Helios and trotted by him under minimal urging with Andy Miller in the sulky. Helios was a clear cut second completing a one-two finish for trainer Julie Miller. The 1:53.4 winning time established a new stakes record.

Andy Miller laughed while speaking about the decision he had to make between the two geldings.

“It was a tough choice, but Galliano is a bit more difficult to handle off the gate and I thought Yannick [Gingras] would fit Helios well, so I took 'Galliano.' Both of them will be heading to The Charles Singer next month here.”

At the betting windows, it was another monster night at The Meadowlands. The total all sources handle of $3,711,378 was an increase of 20 per cent from the $3,089,435 bet on this same Saturday in 2012. In addition, the all-sources handle was the largest of any non-Meadowlands Pace or Hambletonian Day since January 23, 2010.
