Since the start of 2015, favourites at Woodbine Racetrack have been winning at about a 42 per cent clip. Thursday night's 10-race card at Woodbine certainly didn't live up to those percentages.
Of the post-time betting favourites, only one of ten converted on that pari-mutuel support. Three-year-old pacing filly Money Magic was a maiden-breaking winner in Race 2. With three consecutive starts finishing as the bridesmaid, Jonathan Drury engineered a gate-to-wire performance for Money Magic, who tripped the timer in 1:56.1.
Blake MacIntosh trains Money Magic (Shadow Play - Boogie Woogie Flu) and he also co-owns with Randy Zhok and Hutt Racing Stable.
Regally-bred pacer Think Again was 0-for-26 coming into Thursday night's card. He came out of Thursday's card with his first win, providing the highest win payout of the night.
Not intimidated by his 14-1 odds, driver Jody Jamieson hustled the Herb Holland trainee out for the lead and never looked back. Think Again held a length and a quarter lead at the three-quarters, turning for home and again at the finish for a brand new 1:56 speed badge. He paid $30.80 to win.
The four-year-old altered son of Art Major - Remember When was a $100,000 yearling purchase from the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale in 2013 before being purchased by Vincenzo Strangis of Toronto and Mike Pelosi of Woodbridge in Harrisburg in 2014 for $19,000.
