Sherman Takes GLADA Trot

Veteran trotter Dynamic Edge tuned in a gutsy performance for driver Don Sherman, rebuffing all challenges while going wire to wire to win the $9,200 Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association (GLADA) Trot Sunday night (Jan. 16) at Northfield Park.

Sent the second choice in the nine-horse field, Sherman gunned his trotter to the lead when the wings of the mobile gate folded. Then they rebuffed any and all challenges to go on to a 1:59 victory.

While being on the front, it afforded a covered journey for 20-1 shot Fultons Fury (Darrell Rideout), who followed the leader throughout.

Dynamic Edge showed the way by the quarter in :29.4 and had command on his rivals as he passed the halfway point in 1:00.4. But as he approached that marker, he had company from So Wishful (Larry Ferrari), and the two trotters raced eyeball to eyeball past the half and up the backside. Ferrari's trotter got first call as he trotted by the three-quarters in 1:29.3, but he couldn't shake Dynamic Edge. When they headed into the final turn, So Wishful began to fade and Emerald Chip loomed large as they headed for home.

When they raced down the lane, Fultons Fury (Darrell Rideout), who had been traveling along the pylons, ranged alongside the leader but that was as far forward as he got as Dynamic Edge rebuffed the challenge and went on to a 1:59 victory. Fultons Fury held on for second money while Emerald Chip chugged home third best despite being parked the entire mile.

Dynamic Edge, a nine-year-old gelded son of Muscle Mass, is owned and trained by Jessica Roegner. He paid $5.40 to win.
