Richard Moreau celebrated his 4,000th training triumph on Thursday night at Woodbine after a pair of his pupils found the winner’s circle.

With five starters on the 10-race card, Amazing Quest ($7.50, 1:51.2), driven by Scott Zeron, notched the conditioner’s 3,999th win in the seventh race, then Zeron and Windsun T Bird ($4.20, 1:52.4) recorded Moreau’s milestone victory in the ninth dash.

“I’ve been waiting for this for a long time,” said the 48-year-old resident of Puslinch, who is an O’Brien Award finalist as Canada’s top trainer. “It’s a goal that I’ve tried to reach. Now that I have, I’ll just turn the page and hopefully wait for 5,000.”

Last year, Moreau enjoyed a banner campaign, where he led the nation in both wins and earnings. His stable posted 344 wins, while accumulating over $3.6 million in purses.

Also in 2012, the Quebec native captured his second Woodbine Entertainment Group (WEG) training title with 132 victories and was the leading dash winner at Georgian Downs and Grand River Raceway.

Lifetime, Moreau’s troops have amassed over $31.6 million in purses.
