Mother Nature has wreaked havoc on Fraser Downs to the point that the oval has been forced to cancel nine consecutive cards of racing

.

Earlier today an umbrella-toting Chuck Keeling, General Manager of Fraser Downs, braved the elements and headed trackside in order to shed some light on the dilemma Fraser Downs has been dealing with for the last number of weeks.

Way to go, now maybe the rest of Canada will stop laughing at B.C. canceling at the sight of the nasty white stuff. The surrounding countryside is under water raising the water table contributing to the problem. Does anyone else think Chuck was having way too much fun playing in the puddles? lol

well done .."Chuck".... Horse and driver safety is first and foremost over any monetary losses; it was most informative and the responsibility of Fraser Downs to demonstrate the track condition and why racing could not go on..... it will improve soon/ it always does! maybe these lost racing days can be recouped later in the year as twin bills.... matinee and evening cards on a saturday like in P.E.I.!!!

I just want to take this opportunity to express my thanks to Chuck for showing people what is really happening with the racetrack. Maybe now all the finger pointing in and around the backstretch will stop. The drivers committee is not cancelling the races for unfounded reasons. Its obvious what condition the track is really in at this point and how futile it would be to attempt to hold any races on the 'Downs oval. That being said I also want to add that the track maintenance crew has put in countless hours trying to fight an un-winnable battle. Darcy Purdue and his staff have worked long hours keeping the track and barn area accessible for the horsepeople during the last three weeks.
