While it was originally stated that trotting mare Maven would be driven by French drivers during her upcoming European campaign, the proper term apparently should be been francophone drivers.

The world’s greatest trotting spectacle is just six weeks away, and this year’s edition of the Prix d’Amerique may feature an actual Amerique – the trotting mare Maven.

Maven’s year is not over yet. In fact, the five-year-old mare is heading overseas for the second time this year, to test the top trotters in France.

Formidable trotting mare Maven will have new ownership when she starts in the $500,000 (U.S.) TVG final on Saturday at The Meadowlands.

“I think she can get a good mile in (1:) 51 this weekend. Whether it will be enough, I’m not sure, but I’m not afraid of anybody in the race, I can tell you that.”

This weekend's two Breeders Crown Open Trot events could in fact be swept by one owner and two trotting mares.
