Most participants know, and have experienced, that horse racing is a game where the highs can be very high, and the lows can be devastatingly low. Todd and Trish Hardy of Georgetown, PEI suffered through one of those devastatingly low moments in July, 2024, when their horse, Tricky Shooting, had his hind right foot break through the floor boards of the trailer he was riding home in after racing at Red Shores Charlottetown. For a while it looked like the five-year-old gelding may even have to be euthanized, but through the care of those around him and his sheer perseverance, not only did Tricky live, but he’s now back jogging four miles per day, and might even race again.
