This week's edition of Rewind is the monthly feature called Picture Parade. Robert Smith has chosen a group of pictures for the viewing and (if you choose) "guessing" pleasure of the reading audience. If you care to do so, send along your best guesses along with the corresponding picture number. As always the objective is to have a little fun.
This grouping of pictures are all connected to the Ontario Sires Stakes program which just recently launched its season for 2025. Last year the O.S.S. celebrated its 50th anniversary, as it was first held back in 1974. Today's pictures are all from the first 25 years I believe.
#1 - Can you tell us who this driver is? This photo was taken in 1989, 36 years ago. This fellow still keeps very busy.
#2 - Can you identify any or all of the folks in this photo? I have limited information (beyond horse and driver) on this one so will rely on the reading audience to fill in a number of blanks.
#3 - Who is this young lad in the driver's seat behind No. 6?
#4 - Who is this smiling fellow? Maybe a win in the OSS competition was the inspiration.
#5 - Can you identify this driver and perhaps the horse? Not too many have been involved as long as this fellow?
#6 - Who is this young lad? This horse and driver can claim a special achievement in OSS competition. What is that accomplishment?
GOLDEN OLDIES
The next four pictures are horses and drivers who were involved in O.S.S. activities during the first ever season of 1974.
#7 - Who is this not so young lad from the opening year of 1974? This horse led his category.
#8 - Who is this young lad from the opening year of 1974?
#9 - Who is this young lad from the opening year of 1974?
#10 - Who is this young lad from the opening year of 1974? He turned 30 that year and is still around to share his wealth of stories.
The correct answers will be posted here by Robert as a comment in a few days.
